The groups marked with and “*” are informal, private groups. Folks who do not identify with the identities outlined in the group spaces or those not questioning their identities are asked to respect the privacy of those members and practice good allyship by not entering the space.
Aces & Aros*
A weekly peer-facilitated discussion group for people who identify or believe they may identify 0n the asexual and aromatic spectrums. The goal of the group is to explore topics about sexuality and romance, to discuss topics related to the community, and to meet other people in a safe and welcoming environment. During the Spring 2018 semester, the group will meet at the Rainbow Center, Student Union 403, on Wednesdays between 4:30pm and 5:30pm, starting on February 7th.
Among Men is a peer-facilitated safe and private space for men who love other men, or think that they might. During the Spring 2018 semester, the group will meet at the Rainbow Center, Student Union 403, on Wednesdays between 7:00pm and 8:00pm, starting on January 31st.
A peer-facilitated discussion group for women who love women, or think they might. Come and discuss fun topics, movies and more with women who share your feelings and experiences. Between Women is a program of the UConn Women’s Center. If you are interested in attending this group, please contact the facilitator at firstname.lastname@example.org. During the Spring 2018 semester, the group will meet at the Women’s Center, Student Union 421, on Thursdays between 6:00pm and 8:00pm, starting on January 25th.
Rainbow Grads & Young Professionals Group*
Rainbow Grads & Young Professionals Group is a group for LGBT, Questioning, and Ally graduate and non-traditional students, faculty, and other members of the campus community. During the Spring 2018 semester, social events will be planned and advertised on the Facebook page and other venues.
Transforum is a peer-facilitated discussion, advocacy, and support group devoted to addressing issues of gender and cissexism on UConn’s campus and exploring how transgender, non-binary, gender non-conforming, and other gender expansive individuals in the UConn community can navigate this and other environments. During the Spring 2018 semester, the group will meet at the Rainbow Center, Student Union 403, on Thursdays between 5:15pm and 6:15pm, starting on February 1st.
Out in Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (oSTEM) is a national student society, dedicated to increasing the participation of people who identify with lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, asexual, intersex, or ally (LGBTQ+) communities in disciplines related to science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM). The primary function of oSTEM is to educate and foster leadership among STEM students from LGBTQ+ communities. The oSTEM chapter at UConn is a student registered organization. Queer, Straight, Asian
QSA is a student organization that focuses on creating a safe community for Asian-American and International students who identify within the LGBT+ umbrella. The group will be hosting discussions with topics that relate to gender identity, oppressive cultural/familial backgrounds, sexual orientation, studying techniques, and overcoming societal obstacles and barriers. One does not have to be LGBT+ or Asian to be in the club. Everyone is welcome to come hang out and have a good time.
