The groups marked with and “*” are informal, private groups. Folks who do not identify with the identities outlined in the group spaces or those not questioning their identities are asked to respect the privacy of those members and practice good allyship by not entering the space.
Aces & Aros*
A weekly discussion group for people who identify or believe they may identify 0n the asexual and aromatic spectrums. The goal of the group is to explore topics about sexuality and romance, to discuss topics related to the community, and to meet other people in a safe and welcoming environment. During the Fall 2017 semester Aces & Aros will meet each Monday afternoon beginning on September 11, between 4:00pm and 5:00pm. Each meeting will be held within the Rainbow Center, SU room 403.
Among Men is a safe and private space for men who love other men, or think that they might. During the Fall 2017 semester and beginning on September 11th, Among Men will meet each Monday evening, between 8:00pm and 9:00pm, at the Rainbow Center, Student Union 403.
As I Am (formerly known as My Pride My Soul-UConn)
As I Am is an open discussion group for people in the LGBTQIA+ community who have identities, such as religion, ethnicity, and other cultural identities that do not allow them to freely express who they truly are in all aspects of their life. During the Fall 2017 semester and beginning on September 13th, MPMS will meet each Wednesday evening, between 6:00pm and 7:00pm, at the Rainbow Center, Student Union 403 (with the exception of October 11th).
A discussion group for women who love women, or think they might. Come and discuss fun topics, movies and more with women who share your feelings and experiences. Between Women is a program of the UConn Women’s Center. During the Fall 2017 semester and beginning on September 14th, Between Women will meet each Thursday evening, between 6:00pm and 8:00pm, at the Women’s Center, Student Union 421. DARTS* (Diverse Approaches to Relationship Types and Sexualities)
A discussion and education group that encompasses all relationship types and sexualities with a focus on ethical non-monogamy, bdsm/kink, and asexuality. During the Fall 2017 semester and beginning on September 5th, DARTS will meet every other Tuesday evening (Sep 5, 19; Oct 3, 17, 31; Nov 14, 28), between 8:00pm and 9:30pm, at the Rainbow Center, Student Union 403.
Out in Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (oSTEM) is a national student society, dedicated to increasing the participation of people who identify with lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, asexual, intersex, or ally (LGBTQ+) communities in disciplines related to science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM). The primary function of oSTEM is to educate and foster leadership among STEM students from LGBTQ+ communities. During the Fall 2017 semester and beginning on September 7th, oSTEM will meet each Thuesday evening, between 5:00pm and 6:00pm, at the Rainbow Center, Student Union 403. Rainbow Center Speakers Bureau/Our Narrative Educators (ONE)
The Rainbow Center Speakers Bureau strives to increase the visibility of LGBTQA people and to counteract the myths and misinformation about LGBTQA people that are prevalent in our culture. Until further notice, the Rainbow Center Speakers Bureau is on hiatus.
Rainbow Grads & Young Professionals Group*
Rainbow Grads & Young Professionals Group is a group for LGBT, Questioning, and Ally graduate and non-traditional students, faculty, and other members of the campus community. Spectra* (formerly known as ATLAS)
Spectra is a safe discussion group for people who are attracted to more than one gender, think they might be, or are questioning. During the Fall 2017 semester and beginning on September 11th, Spectra will meet each Monday evening, between 7:00pm and 8:00pm, at the Rainbow Center, Student Union 403.
Transforum* (formerly known as Out of the Box)
Transforum is a discussion, advocacy, and support group devoted to addressing issues of gender and cissexism on UConn’s campus and exploring how transgender, non-binary, gender non-conforming, and other gender expansive individuals in the UConn community can navigate this and other environments. During the Fall 2017 semester and through September 19th, Transforum will meet each Tuesday afternoon, between 3:00pm and 4:00pm, at the Rainbow Center, Student Union 403. Beginning September 25th, Transforum will meet each Monday afternoon, between 5:00pm and 6:00pm, at the Rainbow Center, Student Union 403.
UConn Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) Faculty/Staff Group
